This weekend I finished my 21st read of John Grisham's SKIPPING CHRISTMAS. I as so delighted by the story when it was released in 2001, I determined I would read every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I believe it should be our times, A CHRISTMAS CAROL.

I was attracted to this book because I enjoy the writing of both Patti Callahan and C. S. Lewis. I was intrigue to experience Patti’s next endeavor into the world of C. S. Lewis.
This book was about eight year old George Devonshire and his sister, Megs. George was born with a weak heart. The book is set in 1950. George is growing weaker and is not expected to live to nine, but after reading THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE, he has a driving question, where is Narnia? His sister is a student a women’s college at Oxford. George asks Meg to find out from Mr. Lewis where did Narnia come from? Megs uses all her courage on this mission to find the answers to what she knows is her brother’s last request.
Instead of providing them, direct answers to their questions, Mr. Lewis sends them stories upon stories of his early life. At first, these are not the answers they want, yet, they come to realize the stories grow out of stories, and so much more. And their lives are enriched in ways they never thought possible.
Things I liked about this book the beauty and power of Patti’s words pull you into this search for the organs of Narnia. And, truthfully, any of us drawn into Narnia, have the same question, where is Narnia and how do I go there? And our longing to know Aslan. Perhaps, this book helps us find our own ways to Narnia and to the worlds we can create. Creation spans creation, and George respond to the stories Mr. Lewis sends with incredible drawings. This story can ignite your imagination, as well.
And from my own family history, I always love a story if an older sister seeking to bring joy and comfort to a younger, ill brother.
Why you should read this book If you have ever wonder where do stories come from, and more specifically, where did Narnia come from, you should read this book. It will delight and inspire you with hope as well as the honorable ways to honor the harsh realities of life.
If you are a writer, this book will inspire to reach for those sparks of inspiration in your heart and trust the images and voices whispering to you.
This book lived up to the back cover copy Douglas Gresham’s (the son of Joy Davidman and step-son of C.S. Lewis) endorsements on the back cover and in a “Note From Douglas Gresham” at the end of the book are very powerful and worthy of consideration for reading this book. As well as, the other notes.
