National Teacher Appreciation Week May 2011

With the problems facing our education systems, it is more important than every to express our appreciation for our teachers. My appreciation is not only for the work you do, but because I wasn’t willing to do it myself.

What are your thoughts on the death penalty?

Following the jury selection for the Casey Anthony case, I was continually amazed at how many potential jurors claimed they either had no opinion or had not ever thought about how they felt about the death penalty.

Mother's Day 2011

If I am honest with myself, I don’t look forward to many holidays/celebrations. No matter how you try to spin events and life, these days are meant to be spent with people who are important too you. Single, these days turn into a time to be away from work and reminded of how alone you really are.

Are there no secrets any more? (+a blast from my past)

Are there no secrets any more? (A blast from my past)

What does it say about our world, if in a remote place like Abbottabad, Pakistan, you can’t conduct a secret mission? Why it’s not enough to “like”

I notice something this week about ‘like’ ‘unlike’ and comments. Many people click the like or unlike button on other posts. Not so many people leave comments.

It is interesting in topics I follow there are usually more likes to unlikes, but the comments are general negative.

Turns out the work of the cross isn't easy

Every March my church has an auction as a fund raiser. I’ve always wanted to create an original fabric art piece for it, but never had time. This year I was determined to submit something.

The First Earth Day, 1970

I was a Senior in High School on the first Earth Day, in 1970, which was on a Wednesday. Our class talked the administration into letting us have a day off from class in honor of this great event to clean up our city. A Service Day, of sorts.
