crouded city streets small

A place to call home…

24 And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks.

25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.

Jeremiah 31:23-26, KJV

This verse reminded me of the three founders of Sage. They were very young men when they left Texas to fight in the Civil War. Disillusioned by the impact of the war, they were not ready to go back to their old lives. Instead, they traveled up and down the Mississippi, gather a fortune in gambling winnings and finally to Europe seeking a different way of life, a new purpose.

From their many experiences on the road, they learned, they needed to build the world they sought.

On the voyage home from France to the wider open spaces of Texas, they wrote The Sage Manifesto. This document is still used today as guidelines for the Sage community.

Verse 24 was a guiding force for their community. They probably saw the clearer words of the New Living Translation for themselves

24 Townspeople and farmers and shepherds alike will live together in peace and happiness.

The resulting peace of this promise, was their great desire.

Is there a single thought that could sum up the community you would like to live in?
