The lips of a seductive woman are oh so sweet,
her soft words are oh so smooth.
But it won’t be long before she’s gravel in your mouth,
a pain in your gut, a wound in your heart.
She’s dancing down the perfumed path to Death;
she’s headed straight for Hell and taking you with her.
She hasn’t a clue about Real Life,
about who she is or where she’s going.
Proverbs 5:3-6, The MSG
I know it looks like my cat is ready to help by taking a printed page out of the printer. As charming as the thought is, she is pushing the page back into the printer. This continual activity led to the death of the printer.
Ah, yes, dealing with the adversary.
I avoid conflict as much as I can. It is no surprise confronting adversity and the nasty antagonist is one of my greatest challenges in writing fiction.
In the first chapter of The Owl and The Bat, I introduce the protagonist, Whoootra, the owl. Her story is warm and full of beauty.
Chapter two introduces Zsarai, the young rebellious bat. Her story needs to be dark and luring. A young bat who is being groomed to be the Princess of Health, but turns her calling of spreading seeds of health into a life of spreading evil.
The book of Proverbs provides the characteristics and motivations of the woman of folly. I am studying these passages to develop Zsarai’s character.
How are you avoiding the lure of the ‘workers’ of folly in your own life?
