Book Reviews Matter

Last week, I got caught up on reviewing the books I’d read during the first half of the year. I had  a little surprise when I posted 2 of the reviews at Barnes and Nobles.

I was the first person to post a review for God and Hamilton which was published in 2018. Thirty-seven people had posted on Amazon.

Melanie Stiles comes to us from Houston, TX. She will speak on, “Delivering a Devotional Message.” Hear her discuss how to break into print while connecting with God on an intimate level. Her workshop will explore the core components involved in formatting, writing, and selling these short, impactive messages that have the power to reach God’s people everywhere.

Dubbing herself a “Life Coach in Blue Jeans,” Melanie is not only a life coach, but also an award-winning author, and a speaker who has been a prayer leader and lay minister at Lakewood Church, Houston for over seventeen years. Three of her many books include, The Heart of a Ready Scribe52 Reflections for Writers, the recipient of the 2012 USA Best Book Award, and a 2012 Indie Excellence Finalist, as well as the 2013 Xulon Press Christian Choice Award: Let’s Write Devotionals! Speaking at ACFW DFW on Twas the Night Before Christmas

At the 2019 Christmas Party, at ACFW DFW,  I spoke on the history and poetic structure of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Not one time when we pulled this story/poem out to read, did my parents tell me it was written in anapestic tertrameter.

Thinking about Point of View, I'm taken with how the poem's format keeps you completely in the story. Not only that, but end though the can anticipate where each line is going, the rhyme doesn't allow you to skip the line, but demands hearing the rhyme.

Everything, Mary DeMuth's new book, my submission for her trailer

Mary DeMuth invited her followers to be a part of the trailer for her new book, Everything.  This is my submission. It is hard for me to identified the exact moment Jesus became everything to me, because every time I think I know everything Jesus is, He whispers but there is more. This moment was my first realization after my conversion. What about you? When did you know Jesus was everything?
