I was attracted to this book because… I saw Jackie speak at a Women’s Webinar and immediately ordered the book. I want to understand the issues this book addresses.
This book was about… “The Story of Who I Was and Who God Has Always Been” as the subtile provides insight to the Jackie’s tale. The first sentence on the back cover leads you into Jackie’s story, “I used to be a lesbian.” Through a difficult life, Jackie experienced gender confusion and embraced both masculine and homosexuality. At nineteen, God found her, not in a church or through a Christian. This encounter with Him changed her life.
Things I liked about this book… Jackie’s honesty about her life circumstances, emotions and decisions brought me insight into parts of life I have not experienced. And God’s sovereign and glory is all over this book.
Why you should read this book… It opens you to understand the struggles people find themselves in these alternative lifestyles in a way that brings compassion and grace. Great advice from Jackie’s aunt on how we can pray for our friends in any circumstance. And we see how great our God is in His redemption.
This book lived up to the back cover copy… I found the information on the back cover insightful to the content of the book.
